Let’s Celebrate Independence!
Sponsored by the Matisak’s
Celebrate the 4thof July – the independence of our great country — and celebrate independence from seclusion, separation from family and friends and hunkering down! Let’s get out, get back together and get back to enjoying friends, food and fun in a variety of ways. It’s time to celebrate!
We’ll be starting around 3pm at the Matisak’s home on Old Hickory Lake in Mt Juliet. Bring your favorite chair in a bag. The swimming pool is open and the temp should be in 80’s, so bring your swimsuit, play some pool games, or just plan to dangle your feet in the pool to cool off.
If you would like to come by boat, there is room for a few boats to tie up at their dock. Skiing or wake boarding is a possibility. Contact Phil & Lois for directions by water.
They will be arranging for the main course, Famous Dave’s Ribs and Chicken Wings. Cost per person is $12. Participants are asked to bring a side to share to round out the fixin’s.Mixers and soft drinks and some beer will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own choice of adult beverage, if you care to indulge.
Besides the traditional horseshoes and cornhole, other competitions will include axe-throwing, as well as the Club favorite — the pointy stick competition. We’ll also have a few friendly competitions for best patriotic wardrobe, and 4thof July Trivia.
As far as fireworks, some may be viewable across the lake. There will be lots shot off in the neighborhood; you’re welcome to bring your own.
We hope you’ll polish up your Miatas; put them on display on the grass in the front yard, and join us for a day of relaxing, eating, telling stories and just foolin’ around!
So, let’s celebrate the 4th of July and the blessings we enjoy in this country, despite recent turbulent times.
Please RSVP to Lois & Phil by June 30 to lois.matisak@comcast.net to let us know you’re coming and what side dish you plan to bring. Checks should be made out to Music City Miata Club. Address to be provided in response to RSVP.
Hope to see you on the 4th!
