Come join us on a wonderful Fall Ride into the east Tennessee foothills to learn about the history of the rise and fall of the Tennessee town called Rugby. If you like mountainous roads, this is the trip for you.
We will leave the Lebanon Cracker Barrel (exit 238, I-40 Hwy 231) at 9:00 AM to travel the back roads (of course) to Rugby. Plan on arriving at 8:30 AM with a driver’s meeting conducted at 8:45 AM.
Please have an empty bladder, radio, water, snacks, and a full tank of gas, as you’ll need it. As Covid rules are evolving, it would be wise to bring masks for the group tour portion of the event.
We will be traveling I-40 to Monterey before we hit the curvy roads to Rugby. We’ll stop for a bathroom break in Monterey.
The trip will be 118 miles, 2 hour 15 minute drive from Lebanon Rugby.

We will take the tour of the town and find out what happen to the people and how the town came back from the dead. There is a discount for the tour for 10 or more people.
The Rugby Visitor Centre & Theatre is the daily starting point for viewing the national award winning Rugby history film, The Power of a Dream, and for guided walking tours of some of the key historic buildings and exhibits at Historic Rugby. You’ll also view the 32-foot 1880s Rugby mural before starting your one-block walking tour with an informative guide. You’ll visit the 1882 Thomas Hughes Free Public Library, the founder’s home 1884 Kingstone Lisle, 1887 Christ Church Episcopal and the 1907 Schoolhouse with exhibits featuring Rugby images through the years. Normal fees are: $7 adults, $6 seniors (age 60 or above), $4 students K-12, and preschoolers free.
After the tour, We will eat lunch/dinner (late lunch) in Rugby, After lunch, we’ll do 55 miles,1 hour 20 minute back road drive to Monterey and then back home on I-40. This will be a full day’s trip so please plan accordingly.
