Miata’s at Motlow

Tri-Lakes Sports Car Club is having a “Miata’s Only” autocross on Saturday, July 9th at Motlow State Community College (6015 Ledford Mill Rd, Tullahoma TN 37388).

The Tri Lakes Club is ideal for first time Autocrossers and fun for veterans and spectators as well. They are a very laid back group; friendly, informal, and welcoming to all. The autocross course is on a large asphalt college parking lot. Registration is $30 and limited to 30 drivers as there is limited space for the combined paddock / grid area.  Here’s a link to the registration site. 

The Club follows Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) rules but it’s run a little different than a regional SCCA event. They only run 1 car on the course at a time and the course stays “cold” until the corner workers have reset the cone(s) and are back to their workstation. They also have a very informal work / run schedule. Everyone is required to work the course for approximately 30 minutes and then you’re done for the day. Grid is a line through the paddock and you can get in and out of line when you’d like. There are 3 runs in the morning and 3 runs in the afternoon.

Please bring a sack lunch and some drinks (the campus is pretty deserted on weekends). It’s a good idea to bring some bag chairs too. Spectators are welcome and passengers are allowed as long as they have a helmet and sign the waiver. In case of heavy rains the event will be cancelled.

We will meet up at the Mapco Express off I-24 Exit 81A (2430 S Church St, Murfreesboro, TN 37127) and leave for Motlow CC at 7:30 AM.  Please email dwsteele@charter.net by Friday July 8th if you plan to attend or need help determining your car class.

As you will be signing waivers to participate, DO CHECK with your insurance agent as some policies do not cover damage to your car, liability and/or personal injury at or on a race track.
