It’s some of the best BBQ in the world! And we can have us some at the annual Jack Daniels International BBQ Competition Saturday, October 14!!
Let’s GO! We’re returning to Lynchburg for a scenic ride, shopping and eatin’ — and maybe a touch of the “Town Product.”
I hope you have saved the date. If you have not been to the world famous Jack Daniels BBQ Cook-Off (“The Jack” for short) in Lynchburg, TN, you don’t want to miss this event. To even be invited to the “Jack,” you already have been a proven winner in other cook-offs. Then, you get to compete against 10 other contestants. The winner here is allowed to come back in future cook-offs and set up shop to sell their wares to us regular folk. Needless to say, these guys are the best of the best BBQ cooks in the country, if not the world.
The list of activities is too long to mention here, so go the BBQ Web Site for all the finger licking details. Please note that web site schedule was for 2022 event & 2023 schedule will be posted at a later date.
Here is the current club event info: We will start at the Cracker Barrel in Murfreesboro (at exit 81) at 8:30 a.m. with a drivers’ meeting and will depart shortly after with standard FFE’s (full tanks, full stomachs and empty bladders).
We will enjoy some fine Tennessee backroads for a bit more than an hour and 45 minutes, depending on how lost I get — and pottie stops needed.
The public parking will be the best. option. With 30,000 people expected in a small town and much of the existing parking blocked off, getting 10 to 15 Miata’s parked anywhere close together just won’t work. Parking at the distillery has the same problems. We will park at the Moore County High School (1502 Lynchburg Hwy, Lynchburg, TN) and shuttle-bus in and out. Parking is $10.
The shuttle drops you off right downtown, just a short walk from the festivities. Trying to stay together as a group in the horde of people will be difficult. It may be wise to break up into groups of 4 to 6 and face the throngs of people and food lines in smaller groups. From the shuttle, just walk downhill through Lynchburg to the food stands. There will be several — take your pick. All will have the best BBQ you have ever eaten. Chairs-in-a-bag might be a consideration due to limited seating.
There will be no formal agenda once we get there, and all are free to make their way back home when ready. Don’t forget to check out the official schedule at the web site for many other activities and arrange your day.
Jack Daniels Distillery will of course be having their standard tours. Due to the expected crowd, you are welcome to book and do the tours at your option. Booking online and details are HERE
.
Please RSVP to Jerry Hammock at 615-429-8743 or at jerryhammock505@att.net as soon as possible. There is no cut off for this event, so last minute reservations are fine.
A spirited “ride.” Country roads. Fall color.
Good Friends, Good BBQ. Good Times!
