The Music City Miata Club is again organizing members to participate in the Tennessee Region SCCA Autocross events for the 2022 calendar year. 2022 is kicking off with a “Test and Tune” which will take place Sunday, Mar 6 at the James A Ward Agriculture Center in Lebanon TN.
The “Test and Tune” is a non-points event that allows drivers to make individual runs to “test” their cars, and return to the Paddock and make adjustments (“Tune”), which isn’t possible during normal Points Events. The total number of entries will be capped at 80 so register early.
The event costs $40 for SCCA Members and $50 for Non-SCCA Members. It takes place on a large asphalt parking lot. There are generally no more than 2 cars on the course (separated by approximately 30 seconds) at a time. The course is laid out with orange traffic cones, and the setup is unique for each event. The focus is on friendly competition and not speed – – most of the course is spent in 1st and 2nd gear in a Miata.
To participate, register online with the TRSCCA (link) and then bring your Miata, Snell 2010 or later certified helmet, sunscreen, a lunch and plenty of non-alcoholic refreshments. Join us for a great time with our Miata’s in their natural habitat.
Note: The TRSCCA has a limited number of loaner helmets available on a first come/first serve basis for those that wish to “try before you buy” a helmet.
We will meet up at the Mt. Juliet Cracker Barrel (350 S Mt Juliet Rd, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122, I-40 Exit 226A) at 6:45 AM for a drivers’ meeting and will leave promptly at 7 AM. Spectators are allowed, but are required to sign a waiver to attend.
As you will be signing waivers to participate, DO CHECK with your insurance agent as some policies do not cover damage to your car, liability and/or personal injury at or on a race track.
Please email dwsteele@charter.net by Friday Mar 4 if you plan to attend, or if you need assistance with classifying your car.
