Save the dates and book your rooms. The Music City Miata Club will be going to the Miata’s At The Gap event Thursday August 3rd through Sunday the 6th.
Final details are in development but unlike recent years, there will be a club program for each day of the event.
Start by booking your rooms at the Quality Inn in Robbinsville, NC. We have a room block of 14 rooms under the name Music City Miata Club. If you book directly with the Quality Inn at 828-479-6772 ext. 6, you will be paying $150.00 a night. ($572 with taxes and fees. Still cheaper than other locations with this prime location). I know some want to book at other locations, just let me know. These are on a first come first served bases so don’t wait too long. I need to cancel any unused rooms.
On Thursday, August 3rd, we are looking for a day sponsor. This will most likely include a drivers meeting at a Cracker Barrel, a stop for lunch and a site seeing stop before reaching Robbinsville.
We are looking for a Friday sponsor, August 4th. Friday morning is the best time for a challenge to the “Dragons Tail”. Yes, 318 turns in 11 miles. Friday mornings things are just getting started, light traffic and usually no smokies on The Dragons Tail. I once did 4 passes in a row with no traffic at all and no law enforcement. Could this happen again? We will need a side trip from noon on to round out the day.
Saturday, August 5th, is covered. I will be leading the club down to historic Alpine Helen Georgia. Not only is this a beautiful reconstruction of an Alpine Village but it is full of winery’s, brew houses, shopping and restaurants. We will have no problem filling our time there with a short drive from Robbinsville, hour and a half drive each way.
Sunday, August 6th, needs an easy day sponsor. We will depart mid-morning. You will be able to catch another free breakfast and pack. Then we will head home over the Cherohala Skyway National Scenic Byway with a lunch stop before the final drive home.
More details will be shared as they are developed but for now, get those rooms booked and then let me know. I will be keeping the master list of attendees. Even if you do not stay in Robbinsville, please let me know so we have an idea of our numbers for reservations at other venues and restaurants.
