Welcome to the Music City Miata Club, version 2023. I hope you are ready for a very busy year. The face masks are off, venues are reopening and restaurants are staffing up, so it is getting easier to get group reservations. This year the club will be supplying a diverse group of opportunities for you to enjoy your Miata’s and share adventures with friends.
The best way to stay on top of all club activities is to follow the club’s schedule of event found on our WEBSITE. The schedule found there is a live and an ever-changing listing of all club activities.
When you review this list, at the top, you will see many planed events that just don’t have dates available yet. These will be added to the active list as organizers make the dates available. Just below is a listing of events that do have dates and these fall into two types. Those in bold face and highlighted in green have a member sponsor and are firm events. Specific event details will be sent to the membership just as in the past so you can RSVP with that event sponsor. Watch your email.
Tentative events in search for a sponsor are listed in regular type with a white background. If you would like to host any of these events, please let me know. I have also added a new column showing past club activities. These are just for information reasons as they conflict with other club events.
The Music City Miata Club is a member driven organization. It is the members who step forward and sponsor events so we all can enjoy our Miata’s to the fullest possible. Yes, the Events Chairman prepares a club calendar of events and prevents overbooking of activities and makes recommendations of other events, but this is still a member driven calendar. As a member, please come forward and create your own event or pick one from the calendar. Without you there are no club events and there is no club. I am here to help and we have several other experienced club members willing to help you get started.
As a thank you for hosting an event the club announces an Event Sponsor Reward Program. This is a points-based system that will end in a drawing at our annual Christmas party in December. Each member will receive 1 point for sponsoring a no drive event, just meeting at a location for a gathering. 2 points for events that require an organized drive and a meal service, even if the meal is part of the event. Fairs and festivals with food trucks are in this category. 3-point events include overnight events that require organized drive routes, meal service and overnight accommodations. For multi-day events that have more than one host a “day” sponsor would be a 2-point event. A new column has been added to the events calendar for members to track this point system.
First prize will be $250, second place $150 and third place is $100.
