Music City Miata Club Activities Are Re-opened!

Dsc 2616 (3)

At the direction of elected governmental officials, the Club with board approval, had cancelled all activities for the last several weeks. Now that conditions are changing, getting back to reopening, the Music City Miata Club will also begin scheduling events again.

In the process, we will be observing “New Normal” policies. This will comply with current government guidelines.

  1. It is recommended that only one person per car attend Drivers Meeting at events. Drivers meetings will also be available via our FRS radios for those that choose to remain at a distance in their cars.
  2. When not driving, we will observe “Social Distancing” by remaining 6 or more feet apart.
  3. Face masks are recommended but are not required whenever we are not in our cars.
  4. If events are attended by 9 or more, we will separate into sub-groups of up to 9, while not in our cars.

Event structures will be changed to reflect the availability of venues and current conditions. Most large gathering venues and events are still closed or cancelled. Restaurants are open with restrictions making group dining almost impossible. This includes our monthly Club membership meetings. We will be concentrating on the use of outside locations as sunshine is still seemingly the best antiseptic for so many things, even for Covid-19. Inside eating will be limited with patio seating preferred to allow for social distancing.

We are looking for sponsors for events that meet the new requirements. This might include scenic drives to a park or waterfall with a stop for takeout or bring along food is encouraged or drive-in movies as theaters reopen; or a drive followed by dinner at a restaurant with large outdoor patio seating capacities.

Miata Club members have always had the right to choose whether to participate in a Club event. For a variety of reasons, a member may choose not to participate — they don’t like the event theme or location, prior commitments, costs, too far away or other reasons. The current conditions with the Covid-19 problem is another item to consider when making the choice to participate, or not to participate. The Club has a variety of members with different ages, medical conditions and risk tolerances. If some members do not feel it wise to participate, this is their option, and will be respected, but this should not prevent other members from their choice to participate.
